Osborn was a little boy in a neighbourhood of a community, with a health challenge. His parents do leave him behind every day while going to the office.
The condition was very horrible for the boy to bear. He finds it difficult to cope alone. No one to call a friend, no one to play with, not even the one who could share his feelings and encourage him.
What the parents did was to prepare both the breakfast and lunch for him to eat before they come back from work. What a pathetic situation.
These parents were helpless as to who can help to look after him every day as their wages were so small to afford that with other bills.
They were never wicked parents, but they did what could make people to call them the wicked.
They thought they could do that for a while and one of them will quit the job and find something to do at home for the sake of their little boy. The boy never saw it that way, he felt they didn’t love him, but the dog does, who only came as a friend.
Every time they were back from the office, his mother was always busy with domestic work, including making dinner. His father always engages himself with the accumulated work from the office, only coming to the sitting room to watch television for a little time before bed. Which Osborn was never happy to be part of.
When pet becomes a companion.
One afternoon, a neighbour’s dog finds its way into Osborn’s patent’s living room. In deed, he welcomed the dog into the house. Gradually, the dog became a companion who always came to visit and spend enough time with Osborn. Things began to change for Osborn.
The parents witnessed this in their child, which they told Osborn, but he never said anything. All he kept thinking is, they didn’t love him and also never cared about him. Since his new friend started coming to him, he never prayed for any of his parents to ever go to work late in the morning. He would not want them to meet his friend (Jingo).
It was an unlucky day when Jingo only came briefly and went back to keep the company of a little girl of her boss named sacy. The intention was to come back later. Osborn was sad after waiting a while without Jingo, his friend.
There was no one to eat his lunch with him. Since they became friends, it was only dinner that Osborn eats alone. After some hours, when hope was almost turned to sorrow for Osborn, he heard a soft push of the door, lo and behold, it was Jingo. Osborn was excited; they started their play as usual. Three hours of play was like 30 minutes.
Who was at the door?
It was Osborn parents, will there not be trouble today? Said by Osborn in his mind!
As they came in, it was the strange dog they first lay their eyes on. It never occurred to them that Jingo, who they called a stranger, was more than a dog to Osborn.
They both shouted and sent the dog out of their house.
Reader! How do you feel when a good friend of yours is embarrassed and chased out of your life by a parent or a guardian thinking otherwise; especially when they don’t allow you to explain yourself?
That was precisely the way Osborn felt. He felt neglected and hated.
Jingo could not comprehend the situation. The atmosphere became tensed to her, she ran away with fear, which made her not even think of visiting her friend for a while.
Osborn was unable to bear it.
He had to always sit close to the window in case he could set his eyes on Jingo. Osborn became more discouraged, unhappy, and devastated.
Not too long in his hopeless situation, he looked through the window again and saw Jingo’s owner (Sacy’s mum) carrying Jingo in her arm, walking-in with a veterinary doctor hanging his stethoscope on his neck, he shouted Jingo my friend is sick repeatedly.
Hope restored.
Jingo jumped down with excitement and ran to Osborn in their house, healthy. The owner and the doctor followed with surprise. They witnessed how they were hugging one another.
It then occurred to the doctor, hearing the story of the two friends, as narrated by Osborn himself, the sickness was an emotional one. Osborn’s parents were not left out of the scene. It was a weekend. They never saw their son that happy for a long time.
With tears on the face of Osborn’s mother, she promised to go and put up a resignation letter at her place of work, to enable her give their son the love and attention he deserved.
They all rallied around Osborn and gave him a collective hug. That was how the healing of Osborn started in a rapid form.
Attention.
Care and love are the first therapies needs to begins the healing of a sick.
